Look What We Found! meals and soups
Sailors have been taking ready made meals to sea since yachts were invented, and over the years quality and variety has not progressed far from the Fray Bentos pie, but the Look What We Found! range does offer something very edible.
Their range of ready made meals, soups and sauces don't need refrigeration and can be kept in the store cupboard for up to a year, although they are vacuum sealed without preservatives.
Using all natural, farm-shop style ingredients from small specialist suppliers, the meals really do taste like something you wouldn't mind eating. Some, like Wild Rabbit in Leek & Elderflower Sauce come with rice already in the pack, making it difficult to present as anything other than a uniformly brown gloop, albeit one that is probably quite satisfying while beating to windward.
Others in the range, like Fellside Beef Chilli Con Carne, or Mushroom Stroganoff, leave you to add your own carbs, which is more suitable for pulling together something more appetising when you arrive late in harbour and find the shops are shut.
Our taste test team found the microwavable packs easy to prepare and the meals can also be heated up on the hob, or even boiled in the bag.
